"Just back from staying a couple of nights at the Duke and the service was excellent ... Staff were very polite and helpful. Room was exactly as described and was really good. Breakfast was made to order and the evening meal was reasonably priced and very tasty, could not fault in any way. There was entertainment in the hotel but this did not disrupt my sleep in anyway ....they play in the vault. I would go back for sure."

"We booked after reading many very good reviews on Tripadvisor .... and we were not disapppointed!
The owners have worked very hard to renovate the hotel building to a high standard and the care they have taken is evident throughout, whether decor, quality of fittings, pictues and floral displays in corridors and public spaces, the informative web site and a courteous, helpful welcome from reception on arrival.Our room & bathroom was spotlessly clean.
We enjoyed breakfast! Self service juice, grapefrut segments cereals, yogurt etc but the main breakfast freshly-prepared and delicious, served promptly by charming staff. Also, an excellent range of breakfast options, including vegetarian.The management make every effort to ensure the comfort and satisfaction of their guests their staff obviously enjoy their work and the feedback they get from visitors.We will certainly return when next in Barrow. "

"First Class Service. Great Weekend nightlife downstairs. The rooms are lovely and clean, bathroom a little small but was not a problem. Very modern decor. Breakfast is fantastic. On a weekend there is live bands playing downstairs and in the bar"

"Great place to stay"
"The hotel is as good as we have had. We had an upgradee to a room with a king size bed, Big bath and good size shower room very modern,settee and chairs & big flat screen tv/dvd. The lounge was a nice size, and they have a function room with brill entertainment on,each weekend. Short walk into town, and 5 mins from train station. We loved it."

"An excellent place to rest after a long journey"
"It was great to land at this hotel after 8 hours driving from the South. Excellent in all respects. As a vegan, I found the kitchen very accommodating, making me the best porrage I have had for a long time. Very friendly, but unpretentious staff and cosy, clear accommodation. "

"Fantastic value for money"
"I had read previous reviews so felt confident in our choice. However when we stepped into our room I felt very happy with our choice. The room was above my expectations and very clean. Despite our room being near to a road and the hotel having a bar we had a very quiet and comfortable night sleep. On our next trip to Barrow we would certainly use this hotel again. I would suggest staying in this hotel to anyone. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. "
